GAMAK explosion-proof motors are designed to meet the design criteria specific to the respective types, which are classified according to IEC standards as 71-80-90 S-90 L-100 L-112 M-132 S-132 M-1132 M-160 M-160 L-180 M-180 L-200 L-225 MS-250 M. It is a three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor with IP65 protection class, electrically designed as 2-4-6 or 8 poles with a power range from 0.09 kW to 75 kW, which can be operated from direct power supply.
In motors designed as explosion-proof class D structures, the housing parts are made of cast iron.
On request, the explosion-proof motors can be manufactured with insulation classes F or H. With class F insulation, the copper and insulating varnish that make up the stator can withstand temperatures up to 155 degrees according to the relevant standards, while with class H insulation, this resistance limit is defined at 180 degrees. The insulation resistance is not related to the maximum surface temperature.
The protection classes of the explosion-proof motors correspond to II 2G Exd IIC T4 Gb for gas environments and II 2D Extb T135 Db for dust environments. All GAMAK Ex-proof motors are manufactured with thermistor protection elements with an opening limit of 130 degrees. This way, if the motor winding temperature reaches a certain level, the thermistor will prevent the motor from being energized and the motor will be protected from overheating. The user is responsible for connecting the thermistor.
In order to limit the risks that may arise from static electricity in the products, the thickness of the paint on the protective cover is limited to 200 microns, and the raw materials for the rotating plastic propeller are selected from special raw materials with a surface resistance below E9 ohms.
The operating temperature range of the series motors is limited to -20/+40 degrees.

Explosion-proof motors are used in many industries where flammable and explosive materials are present. They are used in such industrial sectors as mines, gas plants, paint and varnish industry, shipbuilding, chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, perfumery, as well as in environments with flammable and explosive gases that pose a hazard.
